After our reading, Mambo Avianna guided me through a ritual, and what stood out to me the most was that I didn’t have to tell her anything about what I was going through. She simply said, “Just follow the process, whether you believe it or not—it will still work.” At the time, I was at the end of a dead-end job and navigating the emotional weight of my father-in-law’s final days. Since doing the ritual, I’ve noticed a quiet but profound shift. It’s as if the emotional noise from the past—old regrets, lingering grief, past-based thoughts—has finally settled. I feel lighter. Freer. More present. Over a year has passed, and everything has changed. My job ended (and it turned out to be the best thing that could’ve happened). My father-in-law passed, and we inherited half of the home, which we’ve since made our own. And the beautiful thing? We’re not clinging to the past. We’re not caught in traditions or memories that no longer serve us. We’re creating from a clean slate—something I never expected, but am incredibly grateful for. I’ve seen others struggle for years to move through grief and change. Somehow, this work helped me bypass all of that. I don’t fully understand how it works—but it does. And for that, I’m deeply thankful.
